Drop tower for impact testing
A system designed to perform impact tests on components, studying their energy-absorption capacity, impact resistance or durability. The control system sets an impact speed which, combined with the mass of the falling element, defines an impact energy.
The tower can be configured so the test object falls freely or, conversely, the object can be fixed on one of the purpose-built anvils while a penetration or impact striker is launched against it. Typical applications include civil and military helmets, personal protection vests, knee pads and back protectors.
